Congratulations go out to Dean Karen Miner-Romanoff, Dr. Leslie King, and Jenine Larrabee on receiving the award from the Academic Forum Conference for Outstanding Conference Paper. Their paper, entitled: Public Health and Crime: Integrating Education-Industry Partnerships within a Framework of Epidemiological Criminology, highlights Franklin’s work with industry and our innovative and forward thinking curriculum.

The works of Christopher Marlowe (the playwright, poet, and alleged spy) not only had an influence on William Shakespeare’s early historical plays, but also on the English language itself, as is evident from the number of times his works are quoted in the Oxford English Dictionary.

Here’s some words which currently have a first-known usage attributed to Marlowe:

planeting, n. The harmonious sounds supposedly produced by the motion of the planets; the music of the spheres

quinquangle, adj. Having five angles or corners; pentagonal;

que sera sera, int. Expressing resignation or acceptance in response to the futility of trying to change (future) events.

Franklin announces it has been granted specialized accreditation by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) for two additional Ross College of Business programs, Financial Planning and Operations & Supply Chain Mgmt. These two new programs join the 12 Franklin business programs accredited in 2010. IACBE program accreditation assures the high quality of Franklin’s business programs. Accredited programs have been examined by trained evaluators who ensure that the IACBE’s standards are being met in 8 key areas.

Participation in the City of Columbus’ GreenSpot initiative is a commitment that requires Franklin to annually report its efforts to being and becoming a greener organization. These initiatives include the creation of an environmental policy or mission statement, as well as measurement of the University’s compliance  with local, federal, health, safety, and environmental regulations. We’re proud to be a partner in making our community sustainable!
